The Better Xacto Knife for Architecture Students

If you found this article, you're probably used to using the standard X-Acto Knife (Size #1). Upgrading to this #2 size is truly all pros and no cons. We've written countless articles about Architecture Student Materials and this is easily one of the most important pieces of advice we have to offer.

Here's why.

Cutting modeling materials is SO much easier with this #2 size, and it cuts just as clean and precise as the #1 size. The additional thickness of the handle gives more surface area for your fingertips to make contact with, meaning it takes less effort to control where you want the blade to go. Thicker construction of the handle also makes the whole knife a little heavier, requiring much less effort on your part to apply pressure when cutting (as many hours as we spend making models in school, this makes a huge difference).

The blades are better too. Their sturdier construction means blades don't snap on you like a #1 blade does when you're cutting thicker and harder materials. It also means blades last longer so you get more for your money and you don't have to replace them so often. The blade itself is longer which leads to fewer cuts to get through your material, ultimately meaning less effort for you.

If you've read this far without getting yours, you probably haven't suffered through using a size #1 X-Acto yet, and you may still be on the fence. So, don't take it from us. You can read over 32,000 reviews that give this an average 4.7 star rating. Use the button below for your ticket to an easier life.
